Home Advisor Retired Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that there is no security risk this year concerning Durga Puja. Therefore, he expects the festival to be held smoothly and peacefully.
He made these remarks during a press briefing with journalists on Sunday afternoon after visiting the Sri Sri Ramna Kali Temple at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
Although there is no security risk, he informed that members of the army, navy, and air force have been deployed alongside the RAB and police to ensure that Hindu devotees can celebrate Durga Puja without any disruption or safety concerns.
In response to a question from journalists regarding the re-investigation and justice for attacks and incidents of violence against minority communities, such as those in Ramu and Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria, during the previous Awami League government, the advisor stated, “Those involved in these misdeeds will certainly face justice. The current government is committed to establishing justice.”
