A tragic case of lynching has emerged from Uttar Pradesh, where a 22-year-old Muslim man named Samir was brutally beaten to death in Banat town, Shamli district. The incident took place on Thursday, 9 September, when Samir, who had just arrived at the local bus station, was attacked by a group of men wielding sticks and rods. The murder is reportedly linked to a verbal altercation between the men.
The police have registered a murder case based on a complaint filed by Adil, the deceased’s uncle. According to Adil, Samir had been returning home from work and had gone to the bus stand to purchase medicines. It is believed that an argument with the attackers escalated into the fatal assault.
The attackers fled the scene, assuming Samir was dead. His family members rushed him to CHC Shamli, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to Muzaffarnagar. Sadly, Samir passed away en route to the hospital.
The police have named eight suspects in the case and have launched efforts to apprehend them. The case has been filed under Sections 142, 147, and 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Superintendent of Police Sukirti Madhav stated that police teams are actively pursuing the accused. The family has expressed outrage at the public nature and brutality of the killing, and Adil believes the attack may have stemmed from an old grudge. Samir worked as a laborer and lived in Mohalla Premnagar, Banat.
